Roxbury Township Police Sgt. Gaffey stopped Miranda Nwadeyi, 48, of California, and John Anderson, 37, of New York, on the highway in Ledgewood around 11 p.m. Thursday, July 27, Chief Adone said in a Monday release.
The pair provided conflicting information to officers during questioning, leading to a search of their vehicle, which turned up the following:
- Approximately 17 fraudulent credit cards
- 13 fraudulent driver’s licenses
- Approximately 30 different victims’ personal and bank account information from Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, California and Texas
- Instructions on how to perpetrate identity theft
- Approximately $5,000 in cash
Nwadeyi and Anderson were charged with 34 counts of credit card theft and 26 counts of exhibiting false documents. They were being held in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
“This was an outstanding effort by Sgt. Gaffey who recognized signs of criminal activity which ultimately led to the arrest of these two individuals who are possibly involved in a nationwide criminal enterprise,” said Chief Adone.
